The Duiker

The Duiker.
When we weren't able to spot a duiker during the day, we knew finding a duiker will be alot of patience and praying. They are mostly active late afternoon during the night and early mornings. We made plans with one of our famers in the area to go and have a look early the next morning if we could find a ram by him.
After getting the Impala and Blesbuck in the salt, the sun was about to set. We started to drive back to the lodge and as we drove by the one cattle pasture, we spotted an awesome looking ram. We quickly had a look at him and decided that we should at least try and get a stalk on him. we quickly got the 6.5 RPM loaded up and the shooting sticks and set off. We had to walk against the fence in hopes of him not going into the open field to be never found again on this hunt. We spooked him up from in the thick thorn bushes where he was bedding down head flat on the ground. We watched as he take of over the open 400-meter pasture just to go and bedding down in front of the only trees in the middle of the pasture. Out with the shooting stick, our client made one super good shot and sent this little fella to the salt and his forever home in Oregon USA.
